MUMBAI INDIANS

2013 IPL champion Mumbai Indians winner Mumbai Indians have very balanced squad under the skipper Rohit Sharma. Their batting looks formidable with players like Mr. Cricket Mike Hussey and Rohit Sharma while in bowling they have Lasith Malinga, Harbhajan Singh and experienced Zaheer Khan. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma also won Champions League 2013 also so they are strong contender to win it again. The inclusion of Hussey will provide this team the needed strength in the opening position. The powerful all-rounders like Corey Anderson and Kieron Pollard adds strength to this team.

CHENNAI SUPER KINGS

Two times Indian Premier League winning team and 5 time finalist Chennai Super Kings are very strong team under the captaincy of charismatic MS Dhoni. They have the strongest looking side on paper as in batting they have players like Suresh Raina, Faf Du Plesis, MS Dhoni, Brendon McCullum and Dwayne smith while in bowling they have Mohit Sharma, R Ashwin and Ben Hilfenhaus. They have very good all-rounders in Ravindera Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo. Bowling is not as good as batting they have but all-rounders can fill up that void.

Delhi Daredevils

Delhi Daredevils are coming into this season of IPL with brand new team under the captaincy of Kevin Pieterson. They have Kevin Pieterson, JP Duminy, Dinesh Karthik, Murali Vijay and Ross Taylor in batting line up while in bowling they have Nathan Coutler Nile, Wayne Parnell, Rahul Sharma and Md. Shami. They lack in bowling as well they don’t have good all-round options which can be problematic while choosing the playing XI for the matches.

Kings XI Punjab

Kings XI Punjab have many players from Australia including the captain George Bailey. Punjab have good T20 squad with batsmen like David Miller, George Bailey, Shaun Marsh, Glen Maxwell and Virendra Sehwag while in bowling they have Mitchell Johnson, Beuran Hendricks, Murali Kartik and L Balaji. Presence of Maxwell and David Miller in batting while Mitchell Johnson in bowling makes this to watch out in IPL7. They have all round options in Thishara Parera and Rishi Dhawan.

Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals are one of the most balanced team in IPL7 under the skipper Shane Watson. They have batsmen like Shane Watson, Brad Hodge, Sanju Samson, Steven Smith and Ajinkya Rahane while in bowling they have Tim Southee, Kane Richardson and Dhawal Kulkarni. All-rounders can make huge impact for this team as they have players like James Faulkner, Kevon Cooper and Rajat Bhatia. They don't have world class spinner but certainly Pravin Tambe can fill this void as he did in last edition of Indian Premier League and Champions League 2013.

KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS

IPL-2012 winner Kolkata Knight Rider is coming in IPL7 under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir. Kolkata is a good team which have good blend of youth and experienced players. This team have Kallis, Gambhir, Yusuf Pathan, Chris Lynn and Ryan Doeschate in batting while in bowling they have mystery spinner Sunil Narnie, Piyush Chawla, Vinay Kumar, Morne Morkel, Pat Cummins and Umesh Yadav. Jacques Kallis, Shakib Al Hassan and Andre Russell gives this team all-round options as well.

ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE

Royal Challengers Bangalore have a power packed batting order under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. RCB have explosive batsmen like Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, AB Devilliers, Nic Maddinson and Yuvraj Singh while in bowling they have Mitchell Starc, M Muralitharan, Varun Aaron , Ashok Dinda and Shadab Jakati. Albie Morkel gives this team a good balance with his fast bowling as well big hitting skill lower down the order. RCB is expected to play in the semi-finals like in IPL-2013 but their bowling looks average on paper.

SUNRISERS HYDERABAD

Sunrisers Hyderabad played exceptional cricket in Indian Premier League-6 and they can repeat the same in Indian Premier League-7. They have batsmen like Shikhar Dhawan, Aaron Finch, Manpreet Juneja, Naman Ojha  but their strength is bowling with bowlers like Dale Steyn, Amit Mishra, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Karn Sharma, Ishant Sharma and Jason Holder. They have plenty of pacer all-rounders like Darren Sammy, Moises Henriques and Irfan Pathan which can create huge  difference in IPL7. Sunrisers batting looks on the weaker side in comparison of Bowling.

There is again no participation from the players of Pakistan as they were not included in IPL-7 auctions and there is very low involvement of the players from teams like England and World T20 2014 Champion Sri Lanka also as no franchises showed interest in them during the auctions for IPL7.

FAVORITE TO WIN IPL7 2014 : In my view Chennai Super Kings under the captaincy of MS Dhoni and Royal Challengers Bangalore under the captaincy of star cricketer Virat Kohli looks favorite on the paper to win IPL7 title while Kings XI Punjab under the skipper George Bailey can be the underdog in this multi-crore event.

Cricket fans and IPL fans are going to miss players like Sachin Tendulkar, Bret Lee, Rahul Dravid and Adam Gilchrist as these players have retired from every format of the game while there will be no show from the players like Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene due to reasons which are better known to the BCCI as well as the franchisees.

What do you think about Indian Premier League 7 ? Which is your favorite team to win this edition of IPL ? Who is that one player which you are going to miss in IPL-7 ?
